Autumn is here!

Two weeks ago we had a change in the weather. Autumn had finally arrived πŸŒΏπŸ‚πŸŒΎ. Our Summer didn't seem to want to leave. I am not a fan of our humid Summers. I am enjoying the cooler weather. I started crocheting to use up my stash of yarn - watermelon, white and lemon. A simple granny square baby blanket

As I was almost out of yarn, I had to redo the border 3 times. Not enough to do a pretty edge. I went with a simple finish

Yesterday was a gorgeous start to the day. I love misty mornings!

This morning the kids were in bed and hubby home, so I decided to take some time out for me. I went for an early morning walk. Nature is beautiful

I've been waiting for the perfect morning to enjoy a warm breakfast. Today was the day. Porridge with mashed banana, dates, apricot, pumpkin and sunflower seeds with a sprinkle of cinnamon. The right amount of sweetness

For over a week I've had a touch of a sore throat

I am thankful it hasn't become worse

Sipping on lemon and ginger herbal tea is soothing

Are you enjoying the change of season in your part of the world?

Have a beautiful day, Julia xx

Crochet patchwork blanket

Over 20 weeks ago, I started crocheting another blanket. On my long list of things to make was a patchwork crochet blanket. I worked on it in spare moments, however, other projects with priority came first.

I finished this sweet blanket last week. The wide border was inspired by Bec at @handmadebec (Instagram). I made the border up as I was crocheting. I tried to keep the corners neat and sitting flat. I like the rounded corners!

Made from Bendigo Woollen Mills cotton yarn. A soft and cuddly blanket!

Are you creating something or have you just finished a project? I would like to hear what it is. Please leave a comment below.

It’s almost Friday! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

Granny Stripe crochet blanket

A year ago, I saw this pretty creation on pinterest

Granny Stripe blanket created by Lucy at Attic 24

On April 29 my Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply cotton yarn arrived

Soft cotton, delicious colours!

My colour inspiration was from Corrie at retro mummy

From memory, my foundation chain was 198

I used a 4mm crochet hook

Once the first few rows were complete
it was an easy blanket to crochet

This was the first time I had crocheted using cotton

It was so soft to work with and didn't annoy my skin

The pattern is in UK terms!

Use the correct UK or US terminology you are used too

All up it took 11 weeks for me to complete my Granny Stripe crochet blanket

I crocheted most nights and spare moments I had during the day

It measures 169cm x 118cm

Perfect size for snuggling on the lounge with hubby or the kids

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this beautiful crochet blanket

* I learnt how to crochet shell border stitch

My current 'work in progress' is a blue, white, grey baby blanket!
